Romancing the Woods has over 20 years of experience building rustic outdoor benches and these pages only show a few examples of what we've built over the years. Our bench designs will look right at home in most residential and commercial landscapes. We've had the great privilege to build natural benches for numerous parks and gardens throughout the country, including The Lion King Theater at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL and Olana Historic Site in Hudson, NY. The majority of our benches are constructed using locally harvested bark-on eastern red cedar trees and branches that we selectively cut from the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountain Regions of New York State. We also construct benches using mountain laurel boughs, a unique and durable wood that has very dramatic natural curves. The structural joints are fastened using countersunk galvanized lag bolts which are concealed with bark-on plugs, and the decorative elements are fastened using ceramic coated screws. We take great care to make sure that no hardware is visible in our construction. Our choice of natural materials used in construction make our benches extremely durable and they weather well in any environment.
