November 15, 2017 Bethany Bench Swing
We were finally given the opportunity to update our bench swing design. This is our 'Bethany Bench Swing' shown at our shop and installed on site. The bench measures 5.5' wide and the frame measures approximately 7.5' wide. |
November 7, 2017 Taunton Hill Tree Tower and Deck (2 of 2)
Here's a couple images of our new 'Taunton Hill Tree Tower'. This tower was built entirely by Rob Davis of Romancing the Woods for a client in Newtown, CT. The base of the tower and deck are 10' diameter octagons, the upper portion of the tower is an 8' diameter octagon, and the total height of the tower to it's peak measures 20'. There's interior seating on three sides of the tower base and three child thrones on the deck. |

August 25, 2017 Burroughs Deck Railings
This is a deck railing project that we completed for a client in West Park, NY. This tranquil deck faces a gorgeous view of the Hudson River. Two sections of the railings were built high to support vines. |
June 2nd-4th, 2017 Country Living Fair 2017
Romancing the Woods does only one show a year and it's always the Country Living Fair. It was a very successful show and we got to meet, and meet again, a lot of great people. As usual we were also surrounded by some great companies with amazing staff including; Hudson Valley Seed Company, Adams Fairacre Farms, Inc., Olde York Farm: Distillery & Cooperage, Beekman 1802 Boys, and Hetta Glogg. Cheers and see you next year. |
May 12, 2017 Milltown Bridges and Railings
This was a gorgeous location to work. The bridges existed when we arrived, however a little repair was needed on the facias to strengthen them for our support posts. We installed bark-on eastern red cedar posts and rails, then used mountain laurel for the decorative elements. Per our clients request we will be going back in the spring of 2018 to add mountain laurel to the hand rails going up the garden path. |
May 1, 2017 Storm's Crossing, Weston CT
The installation of 'Storm's Crossing' was a success. The bridge measures 29' long x 5' wide and is constructed using rough-surfaced treated lumber and bark-on eastern red cedar trees and branches. The bridge was built entirely at my workshop in Saugerties NY, then strategically disassembled to be finally installed at it's home in Weston CT. The installation was completed over a period of two days with only myself and one assistant. A lot of prep work went into this project in advance to be sure that it would go smoothly. It went so smoothly in fact that no one had to get wet. |
March 31, 2017 Storm's Crossing, Saugerties NY
These images show the construction process of 'Storm's Crossing' at the Romancing the Woods workshop in Saugerties NY. This was the longest arched bridge that I have built to date and I learned a lot during it's construction. Everything had to be carefully thought out in advance to be sure that I would be able to take it apart and reassemble it again at it's final home in Weston CT. As you may notice it was so large it ended spanning my entire shop. It was good to finally complete it and get some space back for new projects. |
